The European Language Resource Coordination (ELRC) consortium

Institute of Computer Science, Polish Academy of Sciences

ELRC was initiated by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) of the European Commission. CEF hence provides basic re-usable digital services that are crucial for the realisation of a connected Europe.  Creating connectivity and interoperability in public services across Europe can have a material impact on Europe’s public services, businesses and citizens’ everyday life. Among CEF services, eTranslation helps overcome one of the main challenges that European and national public administrations are facing today: the exchange of information across language barriers. In this context ELRC seeks to identify and gather language resources relevant to national public administrations and services, thus helping eTranslation to better adapt to the needs of national administrations and to enable multilingualism of public digital services.

Within the frame of the ELRC workshop we would like to discuss Poland’s position and prospects in a digitally connected multilingual Europe. Moreover, the ELRC workshop will seek to highlight relevant national strategies and actions for eGovernment, multilingualism and open data that can help Poland maximize the impact of EC initiatives. In constructive dialogue with dedicated experts from the European Commission, high-level officials from the Polish public administration and government, language technologists, and language service providers, we would like to share experiences and needs for a modern multilingual public administration. Last but not least, we hope to jointly identify relevant sources of multilingual language resources that will help adapting CEF eTranslation to the needs of your national public services and address any technical and legal issues with regards to the use of data for automated translation.

As such, your feedback and your participation are crucial for the successful deployment of CEF eTranslation in Polish public services. We would be honored to welcome you personally at our workshop. The ELRC workshop is a free event, but registration is required.
